On Saturday morning, Dec. 7, Historic Saint Charles hosted its 14th annual Santa Dash. The Santa Dash is a 5k run and one mile walk for all ages. Awards after the race are always given out to the top overall men’s and women’s finisher. Additional awards to the top three men’s and women’s finishers in each age bracket: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over.
Organizations that have sponsored the Santa Dash have include Academy of the Sacred Heart – St. Charles, SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – St. Charles, American Family Insurance, and Lindenwood University. Every year, the Santa Dash allows its participants to enjoy pancakes, sausages, and donuts before and after the race. This year’s Santa Dash featured a new festivity to the event, having dancing Santa’s perform before the start of the race. The race started out cold, as temperatures ranged from 30-35 degrees, but the event warmed up through time, as the sun rose. There were many runners and walkers amongst in the event, but altogether, every one of the attendees had a fun time partaking in this year’s race.
