In the final game of a five game homestand the Lindenwood baseball team (14-15, 4-2 OVC) had their five game winning streak snapped with a 3-0 loss to the Southern Illinois Salukis (21-7, 5-1 MVC) on Tuesday afternoon.
Kris Alcorn took the loss for the Lions, his first of the year, tossing 4.1 innings giving up three runs on three hits while walking two and striking out three. Zach Buschschulte, Matt James and Easton Rackers combined to throw 4.1 shutout innings out of the bullpen.
The Lions were limited to two hits in the game as Saluki starter, Tyler Timmerman, pitched an absolute gem of a game going 8+ innings giving up two hits, walking one and striking out six en route to his fourth win of the season. Sam Frizzi collected his fourth save of the year pitching a scoreless ninth.
The only scoring came in the fifth as Kaleb Hall led off with a triple for the Salukis before Matt Schark singled him home on an RBI infield single giving Southern Illinois a 1-0 lead. Two more runs would come across, one on a sacrifice fly from Michael Mylott and the other on a Cecil Lofton RBI knock.
Lindenwood had no real scoring chances as they only had a total of four baserunners the whole game and their potent offense was held sleepless.
Lindenwood will be back on the road this weekend for an OVC matchup against Little Rock from April 4-6. All games will be streaming exclusively on ESPN+.
