This week, the St. Louis Battlehawks played the San Antonio Brahmas in St. Louis and it was a showing of force from the Battlehawks.
The game was at 5:30 p.m. Sunday night, so the corwd was a little lighter than last years home opener but it was still a dominant attendance from “the flock” at the Battledome. The confirmed attendance of the game was 32,115, which overshadows every other team this week with the closest one being DC coming in at 12,254 people. To add to the spread of STL football, FS1 shared their ratings and showing that the St. Louis game averaged 516,000 viewers with the peak coming in its final 15 minutes with 976,000 viewers.
Attendance aside, the game was a one sided affair from start to finish with the final score amounting to 26-9. Manny Wilkins got the nod again for QB, but the true star of the show this week was the running back Jacob Saylors. While the numbers may not look much with only 46 yards on 11 attempts, he made the most of that crucial yardage. He would get the only touchdowns, the Battlehawks would score with a hat trick of rushing TDs.
Now, I want to talk about the atmosphere and the experience of the game. I had the privilege of attending this season’s home opener and let me say this, it felt absolutely electric. Other fans were high fiving each other, there were ribbons and beach balls flying, and there was even a clear and distinct STL chant after every first down that sounded like it was about to escape the stadium. The stadium may not have been full but you could’ve fooled me with the energy and passion that was flowing through every stand of fans. It truly felt like you were almost watching NFL football again in downtown. I will say this, I highly recommend you take the trip to go see the next home game, especially with tickets being as cheap as $18.
The Battlehawks play the DC Defenders this Sunday April 13, 2025 at The Dome at Americas Center in St. Louis, MO and available to watch on the ABC.
