Lindenwood University is looking for volunteers to help move freshmen into their dorms on Aug. 17.
New students will check in from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day. Volunteers will be not only be responsible for welcoming new students, but they also will give directions, answer questions and assist students with their luggage. The shifts are two and half hours long.
The help will make new students excited about choosing Lindenwood as their new school, said Angie Royal, director of Student Involvement at LU.
“The goal of this is to show our new students and families how excited we are to have them here and to give them a helping hand as we welcome them to campus,” she said. “We need as many volunteers as we can get. The more the merrier!”
Volunteers will check in before their shift at the tent on the lawn of Evans Commons and will be given a free T-shirt along with their assignments. Multiple shifts will also be offered for volunteers who have extra time.
Students, staff or faculty who would like to volunteer can click on LU Connect under the student portal and a yellow box will appear on the home page containing a sign up link. A confirmation email will be sent. The deadline to sign up is on Monday, July 25.
