The J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts at Lindenwood’s St. Charles campus will be bringing back the Miss Missouri USA and Miss Missouri Teen USA Pageant for their 2017 competition. Presentations will be held later this month on Sept. 24 and the Coronation on Sept. 25 beginning at 7 p.m.
Contestants will see the university’s performing arts center and will be further incentivized to attend Lindenwood with scholarship awards up to $48,000 over four years for the winners.
The women will be evaluated in three categories to get the best overall impression of the contestant.
The first category is swimsuit event which is designed to observe how fit each participant is as well as their stage presence. The second category is evening gowns. The goal of this event is to see the strong characteristics that the judges are looking for: “grace, poise, style, stage presence, confidence, and overall-impression.”
The Pageant concludes with the on-stage interview. Arguably the most important event, the contestants will appear on the stage in front of the five-judge panel where they will be asked a variety of questions. The purpose of this is to score and evaluate the personality and communication skills of each participant.
