After narrowly sneaking into the MIAA tournament with an 4-15 record, the Lions faced the fifth seed in the tournament, the University of Central Missouri Jennies, falling 73-69.
Trailing 13-11 at the 13:19 mark in the first half, LU went on an 8-point run to make the score 21-13.
The Lions continued to play quality basketball, going into the second half with a seven point lead, as the score sat at 34-27 in favor of the Lions.
Kassidy Gengenbacher and Jenny Rocha both had ten points to lead the Lions in the first half.
The second half began with the Lions continuing their high level of play, as they pushed the score to 43-35.
The Jennies started to play their game from that point on, as they went on to tie the game at 45 with about 12 minutes to play.
From that point on, it would continue to be a see-saw type game, as both squads would trade points.
It was anybody’s game with just under a minute left to play, as the Lions trailed 70-69.
Lindenwood would end up losing 73-69.
Kassidy Gengenbacher led the Lions with 18 points, while Vanessa Zailo led the team with 11 rebounds.
