For more than 30 years, it has been a tradition every December for the Lindenwood theatre department to perform an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.” That tradition continues this year and the process begins this week with the first set of auditions for this year’s production, to be directed by associate professor Larry Quiggins.
Student auditions will take place at the Scheidegger Center, Room 2135 on Friday, Sept. 11, and is expected to happen between 2 and 6 p.m. Quiggins said that to make an appointment for Friday, there is a sign-up sheet in Scheidegger. Quiggins is also holding auditions for child actors, essentially anyone under college, on Sunday, Sept. 26, at the same time and location as student auditions.

Quiggins commented on the upcoming production, saying that they have developed a true version of “Carol” that will set the theatrical standard of the show at Lindenwood.
“Every year, we get [new] versions,” Quiggins said. “Sometimes they get really weird. We’ve decided that we’re going to have just one standard version that is true to the source material… and there’s no outside influences of any other kind.”

Quiggins added, commenting about casting, “It’s also been a big tradition that non-majors have always taken part in as well as theatre majors.”
