The Psychology Interests Club of Lindenwood University will help the St. Patrick’s Center with a fundraiser Saturday in the parking lot of Schnucks on First Capital Dr.
St. Patrick Center, a nonprofit organization based in Wentzville, Missouri, provides housing, employment and health programs to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
The fundraiser will consist of volunteers collecting donations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the goal to fill a large plastic rainbow container. The container stems from a plastic pot, much like one that would contain gold, and is supported by a flagpole with an Irish flag on it.
According to Marilyn Patterson, the adviser for the Psychology Interests Club, those that donate will receive St. Patrick’s Day themed beads.
“Hopefully [volunteers] will dress up like leprechauns,” Patterson said.
Patterson said that the Psychology Interests Club believes it is good to reach out to the community. In the past, the club has helped the community before, such as the time when they helped with an Alzheimer’s walk.
