Roemer Hall is getting a facelift this summer.
Renovations will include: new paint in the hallways and classrooms, new floor tiles, new chairs in the classroom, as well as new hi-top tables for students to work on outside of class and phone charging stations. Jekyl Theatre will become the new home for the Human Resources Department.
Roemer Hall is the main administration building on campus. It’s home to the financial aid office, registrar and business office. Constructed in 1921, Roemer is a building that many students travel to daily, whether it be for class or something business-oriented.
“We just want to make the building student friendly…a more comfortable environment for the students,” said Katie Ratkowski, executive assistant to Provost Marilyn Abbott.
Renovations started in the spring semester and are expected to be nearly complete by the time fall classes start back up. Some long-term projects that will extend through the summer like the renovations to Jekyl Theatre and the reconstructing of the auditorium.
Ratkowski said she did not know the total cost of the project.
