Green-haired singer-songwriter Mike Posner and the Legendary Mike Posner Band took over the J. Scheidegger Center as part of Lindenwood annual Spring Fling week.
The concert began at 7 p.m. and was opened by Miami rapper LunchMoney Lewis and DJ Obscene.
About an hour later, Posner and his band came out and gave a lively performance featuring many of his pop/R&B hits such as “Cooler Than Me,” “Bow Chicka Wow Wow,” and “I Took a Pill in Ibiza,” and the song “Boyfriend” which he co-wrote with Justin Bieber.
Posner’s performance was generally loud and energetic, but was punctuated by a few quiet songs and emotional spoken word,. He also ended with the 1972 soul classic “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers.
“‘I Took a Pill in Ibiza,’ his remix version, at least, is pretty catchy, it’s pretty mainstream, they play it on the radio a lot,” said audience member Ivan Zavala. “I’m actually surprised he came out to this school ; he’s a pretty big artist.”
Posner’s career began eight years ago in his dorm at Duke University when he recorded “Cooler Than Me,” which soon became a top-ten pop hit. The Detroit native released his second album “At Night, Alone” in 2016 after the success of “I Took a Pill in Ibiza.”
The April 4 concert was organized by the Campus Activities Board.
