Bang. Bang. Bang. Nick Stone, president of Student Government, bangs his makeshift gavel, a nameplate, on his podium, officially starting this week’s meeting at 4 p.m.
This week a new student organization, Lindenwood Lion Pride, was approved, general funds were made public and official tailgating started.
President of Lindenwood Lion Pride Daniel Kennebeck said this club will be a way to keep students on campus on weekends.

“We want [students] to be included in the events and chanting and cheering,” he said. “We want everyone to be going crazy and being rowdy and supporting Lindenwood sporting events as best as possible.”
Kennebeck proved his point when he asked student organization representatives about crowd attendance.
“Can I get a show of hands of how many people went to the football game last Saturday? That’s less than 50 percent,” he said. “We want to boost that way up.”
The club did a trial-run Snapchat filter that almost 15,000 people viewed at Saturday’s football game. Lion Pride plans to host tailgates, themed game nights and T-shirt tosses at future events.
Along with that, Alumni Relations Director Michelle Giessman plans to have official tailgating at every single home game this year. The tailgating will happen on the Field House and Guffey Hall parking lots starting three hours before kickoff.
Giessman said she is looking for student volunteers and hoping to get Schnucks involved with discounts for hot dogs.
“We’re looking bodies to come out and tailgate,” she said. “Hopefully after this next home game, we can take over Flowers parking lot and then we can take over the world.”
General funds are now posted on every meeting agenda. For this year, $22,368.12 is left in the budget.
