The Lindenwood men’s golf team finished its fall season with a first-place finish Tuesday at the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, Kansas.
The team won this tournament by defeating Central Oklahoma on the first playoff hole. This first-place finish is significant because this tournament was a MIAA tournament. Rounding out the top five were Washburn University in third, Winona University in fourth and Central Missouri in fifth.
This is the team’s second first-place finish of the fall season. Its other first-place finish came in the first tournament of the season at the Arch Cup. This is the third top-two finish in five tournaments this fall.
As well as the team placing first, three of Lindenwood’s players ended in the top 10. Markus Lindgren ended tied for fourth, Colton Wyllie finished tied for sixth and Yente Van Doren finished tied for eighth. Alejandro Canazares finished tied for 17th and Caleb Picker tied for 42nd.
Lindgren finished his first round one under par, the next round he was even and his final round was three over par. With these scores, Lindgren finished with two over par for the tournament. Wyllie fished five over par, and Van Doren finished six over par. The team also ended up even for the entire tournament.
“I am happy with how our season ended,” coach Derek Schaub said “The guys now know what I expect during the second half of the season.”
