St. Charles Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that happened in men’s housing during the early morning hours of Dec. 15, police and university officials have confirmed.
According to a Timely Warning email sent out to students and staff late Friday, the suspect is described as an Asian male between 19 and 20 years of age who is known to the victim.
The email did not provide any other information about the victim or the alleged attack, but according to the police report, the victim is female and 20-years-old. She is not a student at Lindenwood.
This was the third sexual assault reported during the fall semester. The other incidents were:
- An alleged sexual assault that occurred in student housing around 1:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving. No other information was released.
- An alleged sexual assault in Guffey Hall that was reported early Sept. 13. The incident happened between Sept. 12 and 13. The attacker was described as a 19-22-year-old white male who is known to the victim.
No updates have been given in the previous cases. They represent an increase in the reporting of this type of crime on Lindenwood’s campus. According to the 2017 Clery Report, in 2016, two rapes were reported on campus, in 2015 two off-campus rapes were reported, and in 2014, one rape was reported on campus.
Anyone with information about Friday’s assault is encouraged to contact St. Charles City Police at 636-949-3300 or the Office of Public Safety and Security at 636-949-4911.
EDITOR’S NOTE: A prior version of this article stated that the assault happened at an off-campus location. This was based on information in the timely warning email sent out Friday. This was incorrect and we have updated the article.
