In special recognition to Dr. King, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion task force has created a MLK, Jr. Leadership award to someone associated with Lindenwood’s campus community, according to the Lindenwood Digest.
Dr. Shane Williamson, Associate Vice President of Student Life and Diversity and Dean of Students, said that her office was excited to announce the award this year.
“People want to recognize students, faculty and staff who possess characteristics similar to Dr. King,” Williamson said.
Dr. Nichole Torbitzky, the University chaplain and member in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion task force, encourages students from any faith community to nominate someone from the campus community who embodies the ideals of the late reverend and civil rights activist, Dr. King.
“We’re looking for individuals who embrace creativity, and leadership, and scholarship, and service,” said Torbitzky.
Students are welcome to nominate people who they think embrace these qualities.

Nominations must be submitted by January 19th by 5 p.m. according to the Lindenwood Digest.
