Lindenwood’s Campus Activities Board has confirmed that there will not be a spring 2018 concert.
According to Nikki Cornwell, associate director of Student Involvement, there were conflicts with artists’ touring schedules and booking a day in the Lindenwood Theater.
Cornwell said that the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts only provided one day for CAB to schedule the concert on, and there were no artists that could come on that day.
“It got to the point that we were running out of time, the artists weren’t working out, whether it be cost, touring schedules, things like that,” Cornwell said. “We looked into even [getting] comedians and it was the same thing, same issues.”
Instead of spending its funds on a big-name artist, Cornwell said that CAB is reallocating the money into events that are already scheduled this spring, including Evans Unlocked and Spring Fling.
CAB is hosting the Rock the Block party as a part of Spring Fling this week. On Thursday, April 12, local St. Louis group Dirty Muggs will take the stage on the Evans Commons Lawn headlining the Rock the Block event.
Cornwell said that CAB is currently working with the Scheidegger Center to schedule two concerts next year, one in the fall and one in the spring.
