Some students will get their first taste of turkey and stuffing this Friday when the International Student Fellowship hosts its Thanksgiving feast.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Calvary Church in St. Peters. International students or anyone who would like a turkey dinner can attend.
The dinner costs $5 per person and free rides will be offered.
In addition to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, attendees will play games and listen to salsa music performed by Sazón — the premier acrobatic salsa team at Saint Louis University.
Sazón also will be teaching people at the event how to dance salsa.
Thanksgiving Feast first started in 2010 when the International Student Fellowship was formed, and it is held every November.
“This is going to be my first time celebrating Thanksgiving and I’m already so excited,” said Jordina Mariné, a freshman from Spain, said.
Eileen Schulte, an International Student Fellowship volunteer, said the dinner gives students from other countries a chance to experience the American tradition. But she stressed that American students as well as internationals, are welcome.
Students can buy a ticket at the Evans Commons from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m on Thursday.
