The International Student Fellowship held a Thanksgiving feast last Friday for the international students that had never tasted Thanksgiving dinner before.

The feast took place at Calvary Church in St. Peters.  Apart from Lindenwood students, there were students from Saint Louis University, Maryville University, and Washington University.

Volunteers picked the students up from Lindenwood at 5:30 p.m. and dinner started at 6:30 p.m.

The dinner was turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. For dessert, they had varieties of pies, such as pumpkin pie, pecan pie and cranberry pie.

While eating, they told what they are thankful for while being in the U.S.  The volunteers also showed a video about Thanksgiving and how it first started.

“This is the most educational and fun dinner I’ve ever attended,” said Shraddha Belbase, a student from Nepal.

People in the event also got to watch salsa performed by Sazón, the premier acrobatic salsa team at Saint Louis University.  They also learned how to dance salsa.

During the event, they also introduced Christmas gift boxes from Samaritan’s Purse – with which people can send gifts to children in third world countries.

Attendees could buy gift boxes for $9 and send it through International Student Fellowship.

“I’m thankful that the international students gave this opportunity to us,” Asuka Oka, a student from Japan, said. “I had learned how the Americans celebrate Thanksgiving and the meaning of it through this event.”
