Campus Activities Board hosts Evans Unlocked event
April 29, 2021
The Evans Unlocked Luau with the Campus Activities Board will have everything from silent disco, selfie stations, limbo contests, balloon artists, food/snacks, mocktails, giveaways, and more.
This year’s Evans Unlocked event is on April 30, from 7 p.m. to midnight. The event will be taking place in Evans courts, the atrium, the dining hall, and Evan’s lawn.
Grace Whitener and Allison Link are two of the people on CAB helping with Evans Unlocked event planning party. They have been planning this event for about a month now. They said this event is a way to help students de–stress and have fun.
“At the end of the semester, to close out the year we like to throw a big party or event to help the students de–stress and everything, and that’s usually before finals that we do this. It’s just a fun night that Evans is open for a longer period of time with a lot of different things that they can do,” Whitener said.
Due to COVID-19 protocols the event will be different this year. Everything will be spread out, however, Link said CAB anticipates having many students attend the event.
“I know Covid had kind of put a stop on a lot of events that normally go on, so hopefully a lot of students will come and experience what normal of it would be like,” Link said.
Before COVID-19 they usually have 300-400 people attend, however, they anticipate 200 people to attend this year.
Whitener said she looking forward to Evan’s Unlocked this year and seeing people at the event.
“I’m most looking forward to just being able to see people enjoy something at the end of the year because we haven’t done any really big events so far this year and it’s looking more normal, and we didn’t think we’d have Evans Unlocked so I think it’s interesting to get to do it,” Whitener said.
Link is excited for this event since it will be her first time going to Evans Unlocked and it is one of the biggest events of the year.
“I think I’m really just excited again. This is the first big event, so I’m excited to have that experience, and then I’m excited to see all the people on campus I haven’t gotten to see or meet,” Link said. “So I think this would be a good opportunity to reach out for people to introduce each other.”
