An email sent a few weeks ago highlighted new parts and details of our dining experience here at LU.
Modifications including a meal combo, new side options, and extended late-night dining have been integrated into the current meal plan structure.
Another addition is the introduction of to-go boxes at Evans Commons, allowing students to carry their meals back to their dorms instead of eating in the dining hall. The Everyday App is an option granting access to menus and dietary guidelines to simplify the dining decision-making process.
With the new options, different opinions have emerged from the student body. Word around campus is that many students miss previous years dining experiences.
“My favorite aspect of the meal plan was the unrestricted access to Grubhub, regardless of the operating hours. The limitations on meal times have proven challenging for many students, particularly athletes and those with work commitments,” Sophomore Ethan Erlewein said.
“The changes have left me less satisfied, as I find it inconvenient to have to travel to Evans for a single meal,” Student Alex Nobles said. “My residence and classes near Spellmann mean that during short lunch breaks, minimizing travel is preferable.”
Lindenwood’s previous food provider stopped serving the institution over the summer. This led to switching to a new provider: Sodexo.
Chief Experience Officer Joe Sallustio encourages students to keep up with Culinary Council and Student Government, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes
“Change can be uncomfortable, it doesn’t mean it’s not the right decision,” Sallustio said.
As the year continues, the administration hopes the student body will be on the lookout for these new additions:
- Renovations in the dining halls
- New food options (Pizza Hut, more market options)
- Student Hearings (Culinary Council, Town Hall)
