A woman told Lindenwood and St. Charles authorities that she was sexually assaulted in campus housing early Saturday, according to an email sent to students Tuesday.
The woman reported that the assault happened during the early morning hours at a home on Charbo Street. She did not contact authorities until Monday. Lindenwood’s Office of Public Safety and Security sent out an email to Lindenwood staff on Monday night at 9:02 p.m., but students were not informed until 8:17 a.m. on Tuesday.
Although the email included the street name where the assault happened, officials neglected to state that the assault happened in campus housing. A check of property records shows that every property on Charbo Street is owned by Lindenwood University. There was also no indication whether Lindenwood students were involved in the incident.
According to the email, the victim “is familiar with the suspect and provided authorities with his name.”
The email described the suspect as a white male, 20-23 years old with black hair.
This was the second time this school year that a sex assault was reported. The first assault happened on Sept. 18 in campus housing. Three Lindenwood students were charged in the assault. The victim in this case was not a Lindenwood student.
The most recent case is under investigation by the St. Charles police department and campus security. No other details were immediately released. If anyone has any information concerning this incident contact the St. Charles Police Department at 636-949-3300 or the Office of Public Safety & Security at 636-949-4911.
