The 2014-15 Speaker Series will feature big names from the entertainment industry. The author of “Orange is the New Black,” Marvel Comics editor Bill Rosemann and actors such as Giancarlo Esposito and Kal Penn are a few examples of this powerful lineup.
“Students will definitely come to see Esposito, because of his fame in “Breaking Bad.” The author of the popular show “Orange is the New Black” will definitely be a major attraction as well,” said Paul Huffman, coordinator of the speaker series.
The 2014-15 Speaker Series features the following six speakers:

- Piper Kerman, author of “Orange is the New Black,” will open the series on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Scheidegger Center – Bezemes Theather. Kerman’s speech will be on “My Year in a Women’s Prison.”
- Lauren Drain, ex-member of the Westboro Baptist Church will give her speech on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Spellmann Center – Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room. Drain will discuss “Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist Church.”
- Bill Rosemann, editor for Marvel Comics, will be at Lindenwood on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Spellmann Center – Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room. Rosemann will share with the audience “Superheroes On – and Off – the Page.”
2015

- Giancarlo Esposito, television and movie actor (“Revolution”, “Once Upon a Time”, “Breaking Bad”), will come to Lindenwood on Feb. 18, 2015 in the Scheidegger Center – Bezemes Theater. Students will have the opportunity to spend an “Evening with Giancarlo Esposito.”
- Jamie Tworkowski, founder of To Write Love on Her Arms, comes to Lindenwood on March 3, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the Spellmann Center – Anheuser Busch Leadership Room. Tworkowski will discuss about “Pain, Hope, Questions, and Community: An Evening with To Write Love on Her Arms.”
- Kal Penn, actor and former Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement for the Obama Administration, is the last speaker on April 22, 2015 at 7 p.m. with venue to be determined. Students will have the opportunity to spend an “Evening with Kal Penn.”
Huffman hopes that the 2014-2015 Speaker Series will “engage students to do things other than classes, and that they will be able to enjoy and learn from the Speaker Series.” Click here for more details on the Speaker Series.
