The Lindenwood University Fitness Center, also known as the Field House weight room, has received a needed renovation.
The Fitness Center is home to 20 free-weight racks that athletes and students use year-round. The wooden platforms and gold-plated metal supports inside the racks have been splintering and rusting for quite some time now. The platforms and supports for the racks had been in place since 2007.
Seeing that it was time for an update, the LU Strength and Conditioning staff set out to update the facility, and have proceeded to replace the platforms with brand new wooden platforms and have updated the supports with a clean matte black finish.
Head Strength and Conditioning coach Shawn Nagel is impressed with the work the Lindenwood staff put forth in updating the Fitness Center. Nagel said he believes the renovations will benefit athletes and students moving forward.
“I am really impressed with the work that our maintenance guys did on the racks, and I am a big fan of the new finish on the wood and the matte black on the supports,” Nagel said. “I think our students and athletes are going to be pleased with the new look when they return from summer break and come back to work out for the first time.”
With one renovation complete, the Strength and Conditioning staff said they will set their sights on trying to convince the administration to add air conditioning to the Fitness Center in the near future.
