Losing a third straight conference game, the women’s basketball team fell 65-59 to Fort Hays State in a nail-biter at the Hyland Arena.

In a match-up which saw a tied score five different times, the Lions were unable to take the lead throughout the entirety of the four quarters. 11 steals and 23 points off of turnovers helped Fort Hays hold off several comeback attempts to extend their two-game winning streak.

Shooting an even 40 percent from the floor,  Kassidy Gengenbacher, Jenny Rocha and Vanessa Zailo posted double digits in the scoring column for the Lions. Zailo recorded her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Wrapping up the first homestand of the new year, the Lions will take on Nebraska-Kearney on Jan. 9.
