Lindenwood Ice Hockey Lady Lion, Rachel Weich has dealt with the fear of brest cancer at an early age. It would be an emotional game for a Friday night hockey game.
Susan Weich was 36 when she learned that she would be battling breast cancer. Susan had already lost her mother to breast cancer.
After losing her mother, Susan did not want lose her family. Susan is known in the St. Charles community as a reporter for the St. Louis post-dispatch. She was able to share parts of her experience in the newspaper and received a lot of feedback.
The large turnout at the rink was moving for Susan. As a breast cancer survivor, she dropped the puck in front of a sold out crowd.
For her daughter Rachel, ending her first season playing a tough sport like ice hockey, it was a perfect night for family and community.
