Keeping track of what films are coming to theaters can be hard.
Here is a list of movies hitting theaters in the upcoming months.
- Night Swim
The horror movie Night Swim came out on Jan. 5th. The movie is about a baseball player, Ray Waller (played by Wyatt Russell), who retires early due to a degenerative illness. He purchases a new house for his wife and two kids, hoping the inground pool can be used for his physical therapy and also make the kids happy. But the movie’s tagline and genre hint that this pool is much more dangerous and will cause terror.
- Mean Girls
Jan. 12 was a big day in theaters. The remake of the 2004 film Mean Girls came out on this day. This teen classic hits theaters with a new cast and a twist with Tina Fey as the writer.
- The Underdoggs
Later on in the month, on Jan. 26, The Underdoggs will appear in theaters. This American sports comedy directed by Charles Stone III is about a washed up NFL player trying to be a coach for a youth football team. This film stars Snoop Dog, Tika Sumpter, Mike Epps, and George Lopez.
- It Ends With Us
It Ends With Us will come out on Feb. 9. It Ends With Us is a romantic comedy starring based on a popular Colleen Hoover book. Blake Lively plays Lily, who is married to a man she believes to be her true love. Her marriage is thrown out of balance when a painful experience brings back past trauma and her first love comes back into her life.
- Madame Web
Valentine’s Day is also a popular day for movie releases this year. Madame Web is a new addition to the Marvel cinematic universe about Cassandra Webb (played by Dakota Johnson) who goes from a normal paramedic in New York City to a clarvoyient hero protecting the lives of three young women.
- Bob Marley: One Love
The other movie release is Bob Marley: One Love, which is a dramatized biography of Bob Marley’s life. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and with help from Bob Marley’s son, Ziggy Marley, this film is meant to help immortalize the famous reggae singer.
- Dune: Part II
Dune: Part II comes out on March 1. The sequel to Dune stars Timothee Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Zendaya, and Austin Butler as the protagonist Paul Atreides has to choose between the love of his life and revenge for his family.
- Imaginary
This release is followed by the release of Imaginary on March 8. This is a supernatural horror film about a woman returning to her childhood home and finding her old imaginary friend who has become unhappy in her absence and begins to haunt her stepdaughter.
- Kung Fu Panda 4
For a more general audience film, return to theaters on March 9 to watch Kung Fu Panda 4. Lovable panda fighter Po becomes the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace and therefore is tasked with training the next Dragon Warrior as a new evil arises. This movie is Dreamwork’s Animation’s 46th feature film and will be for kids, teens, and adults.
- Arthur the King
On March 22, theaters will be showing Arthur the King. Arthur the King is about an adventure racer and his team that finds a stray dog and adopts him in the middle of an epic endurance race.
- Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
March 29 will be the release date for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The next film in the Ghostbusters franchise will follow the Spengler family as they return to the iconic firehouse in New York City. An ancient artifact releases an evil that unites Ghostbusters of the past and present.
- Mickey 17
March 29 will also be the release of Mickey 17 is a sci-fi adventure following an expendable crew member on a space mission who gets the most dangerous tasks because his body will regenerate with his memories intact, but a mistake is made in the regeneration process which causes things to go very wrong.
