The Lindenwood Women’s basketball team (11-7, 7-2 OVC) battled it out with Southeast Missouri State (4-14, 2-7 OVC) on Thursday night in Hyland Arena.
The Lions won the game by a final of 84-76. Guard Ellie Brueggemann led the way with 19 points, shooting 6-8 from the three-point line and 2-4 from the free throw line. Brueggemann also added two assists and two steals.
The great three-point shooting continued with guard Gracy Wernli going 3-5 from behind the ark, shooting 7-10 from the field. Wernli added three rebounds and two assists on the night.
Mya Skoff had 12 points on the night, but did most of her work from the free-throw line. Skoff shot 2-7 from the field while shooting 8-10 from the line. Skoff added four rebounds and a block.
Off the bench Lions forward Justis Odom added 12 points. She also added four rebounds, three assists and two steals in 25 minutes.
Brooke Coffey and Gracie Kelsey both added six points. Coffey also added four rebounds and four assists.
In a short three minutes, Mariah Stewart put up four points and added three rebounds while shooting 2-2 from the field.
The Lions shot very effectively in the win, shooting 48.3% (29-60) from the field and a lethal 56.3% (9-16) from three. The Lions also shot 70.8% (17-24) from the free-throw line.
With the win the Lions improve to 11-7 overall and 7-2 in conference play. In the OVC the Lions are now in a four way tie for second place.
The Lions will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday as they take on Little Rock in a second-place battle of the OVC. The game will take place at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, or live on ESPN+ at 1 p.m.
