The LU Gymnastics Team faced the University of Denver and Penn State on Saturday, January 5 for their first competition in program history.
This event took place at Hamilton Gymnasium, in Denver, CO. It was promoted and published as an event filled with emotions as this was the first season competition for the Lindenwood Gymnastics program.
With an extreme effort and hard work, Lindenwood obtained third position with a final team score of 185.925 while Penn State obtained second position with a team score of 193.725, and in first position, the University of Denver with a team score of 194.700.
Lindenwood Gymnastics had been preparing for this kind of event since early August. During the fall of 2012, LU Gymnastics faced University of Missouri (Mizzou) as a pre-season meet for the upcoming competitions. Mizzou won the battle, but LU lady lions got experience and became prepared for the regular season.
After the competition in Denver, Freshman Lauren Cartmell said, “The energy level in the gym brought our whole team together. For me it was also fun because it was in my home town so i knew a lot of the fans which made it even better.”
The next gymnastics competition will be their home opener on Friday at 6pm. For more information visit the gymnastics schedule.
