Lindenwood led by 13 points at halftime, but SBU won 71-69 last night at the Hyland Arena. The loss drops LU to 8-11, 3-6 in the MIAA.
The Lions shot 64 percent from three during the first half. SBU was one-for-12 during the same time period. Michael Boos led the way from outside for LU. He led all scorers with 20 points during the game.
After SBU hit the eventual game winning three with just under five seconds left LU had to break the press to try and tie the game. The ball was inbounded to Garrett Reeg who passed it ahead to Tyler Ressel. He ran into a Bearcat under the basket, but no foul was called.
“Well we tried to get it so that they’d bite on coming up and letting us throw long. They did not,” Lindenwood head coach Brad Soderberg told KCLC. “We got it to Ressel. I thought Tyler (Ressel) had Darris (Smith) open in the corner, but you know when there is that few seconds left you can’t fault a guy for trying to make a play at the rim.”
