Seventeen out of 20 of Lindenwood’s women hockey players — 85 percent — were named to the CHA All-Academic team.
To qualify for the CHA All-Academic Team, the student athletes must have a 3.0 GPA or higher in both academic terms.
Lindenwood University has been apart of the CHA for four seasons. During that time, 58 Lindenwood student-athletes have been on the All-Academic Team, and 13 students have been Student-Athletes of the Year.
Coach Scott Spencer said his staff helped his team achieve the honors.
“I believe it all starts with the student athlete, and I’m grateful for all the help my coaches and recruiters have done to bring in excellent student athletes,” he said. “We have a student success center that all players used for their individual study halls during the week that also played a integral role.”
Three of the players shared the CHA’s Student-Athletes of the Year Award. They are: Nicole Hensley, Tae Otte and Corbin Welsh. All three earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. Lindenwood was the only team in the entire CHA to have this prestigious award for their student athletes in consecutive seasons.
The other Lady Lions who qualified for the CHA All-Academic team for having a 3.0 GPA are: Sarah Bobrowski, Kaitlyn Davidson, Jolene deBruyn, Holly Dietzler, Brittania Gillanders, Carla Goodwin, Xylia Lang, Ally Larson, Tirra Lemoine, Sarah McGall, Shannon Morris-Reade, Katie Nokelby, Brooke Peden and Rachel Weich.
