Orrie Covert, who previously worked at the University of Texas at Tyler, started his position at Lindenwood as vice president of advancement and communications at the beginning of the 2020 spring semester.

Lindenlink met with Covert and discussed topics like raising money in the Saint Louis area and the challenges of competing for fundraising against other local schools.

“In the Saint Louis market there are a lot of great organizations, universities, and non-profits, but Lindenwood is very special. We’ve got strong alumni and incredible community connections, so we’re trying to capitalize on the things we do really well to resonate in the community around us,” said Covert.

Covert also previously realized a $2.1 million gift while working at Northwest Missouri State, which was the largest cash gift in the history of the university.

“That was rewarding, it’s great when you’re able to connect donors that are able to address priorities that are on campus or by the university, so it was a nice gift to help future students as far as being able to finance and afford to go to college,” said Covert.
