ST. CHARLES, MO.— Lindenwood University announced it will permanently close the LindenLodge at the end of Summer 2026 to students, in what the school described as a comprehensive review of campus facilities and long-term planning priorities.
In a message to students, the university said it “remains committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living environment for our students” and that it “continually evaluates facility conditions and long-term planning priorities across campus.”
“Following a comprehensive review, the University has made the decision to permanently close Linden Lodge at the end of Summer 2026,” the university said in a press release to residents. “Linden Lodge has served as a meaningful residential community for many years, and this decision reflects our commitment to focusing resources on strengthening and modernizing our housing portfolio for future students.”
University officials said students currently residing in Linden Lodge were notified and that the Residential Life team will meet with affected students in the coming days to assist with housing selection for next year.
“We want to reassure you that we are committed to supporting you through this transition and minimizing any disruption it may cause,” the university said in its statement to residents. “We recognize that Linden Lodge is more than just a place to live, it’s a community and a space many of you hoped to continue calling home.”
Students living in Linden Lodge will be eligible to participate in a Priority Housing Sign-Up period for Fall 2026. According to the university, priority sign-ups will open March 24 at 8 a.m. and are intended for students unable to renew their current housing assignment.
“This early sign-up window is specifically designed for students who are unable to renew their current housing assignment,” the university said. “It provides an advance opportunity to select a space comparable to your current living arrangement before housing selection opens to the broader student population (based on earned credits).”
Additional reminders and detailed instructions will be sent later this month and again in March, officials said.
Located about three-quarters of a mile from the university’s main campus in St. Charles, Linden Lodge is a former hotel purchased by the university in 2010 and converted into a residence hall that fall. The building and adjacent parking lot have since housed 116 male and female sophomores, juniors and seniors from a range of academic majors, athletic teams and cultural backgrounds.
The lodge is located adjacent to a shopping area and within walking distance of several restaurants.
Officials encouraged students with questions or concerns to contact the Residential Life office by email or phone during regular business hours.
“We appreciate your understanding as we move forward with this necessary step in our long-term campus planning,” the university said. “Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and to the Lindenwood community.”
