This past Saturday, Lindenwood men’s basketball won a thriller vs. the McKendree Bearcats in double overtime by a final score of 116-109.

Lindenwood senior guard T.J. Crockett led the way for Lindenwood on senior night with 54 points, the most ever in a single game in GLVC and Lions history. Crockett was also a force on the defensive side securing two steals and one block.

While this was a great game for Crockett, Lindenwood’s other senior Cameron Scales scored 21 points while hauling in 14 rebounds. Scales also hit the game-tying three pointer at the end of the first overtime to extend the game.

Junior guard Brandon Trimble totaled 18 points while also helping out his team with six rebounds and two assists.

Throughout the game, there were 12 times where the score was tied and there were four different lead changes.

Near the end of the first half, McKendree led by a score of 48-46. After the break, Lindenwood led the game with just 2:31 left in the second half, but allowed McKendree to score eight unanswered points to tie the game with just over a minute left.

Throughout the double overtime period, Lindenwood put up 32 more points while holding McKendree to 25 and secured the seven point victory.

One of the areas that led to the win was the amount of turnovers they were able to force. Lindenwood forced 14 turnovers throughout the game and capitalized on those turnovers by scoring 20 points off of them.

The win over McKendree brings the Lindenwood men’s team to a record of 10-8 on the season, and has them sitting in sixth in the GLVC team standings. The top eight teams make the GLVC tournament, which begins on March 4.

Lindenwood’s next and final game of the regular season will be against the University of Indianapolis on Feb. 27 in Indiana.
