After a difficult stretch of games to start the year, Lindenwood’s women’s basketball team began the season 1-4 through their first five games.

Since then, the Lions have turned things around, winning seven of their last nine games and now hold a record of 8-6.

“Our coach put us up play really tough teams at the beginning of the schedule,” forward Julia Ruzevich said. “I loved that opportunity, and our girls really learned a lot from that.”

In this recent stretch, the Lions have had wins against teams including Parkside, Illinois Springfield, Michigan Tech, and Maryville.

“We had adversity, we had challenges, several obstacles that have probably jumped in our way here this season,” head coach Katie Falco said, “and to see the girls respond in the way that they have, come together, be better because of it, and to have the recent success.”

The Lions are on the home stretch of the season now as they are beginning to look towards the conference tournament which is only a little over a month away.  The Lions are looking for their first GLVC tournament title.
