“Take a Coat, Donate a Coat” is happening at a local bar in Saint Charles.

The Corner Bar on 571 First Capitol Dr. in Saint Charles is doing its annual coat drive for the third year in a row this year. The bar’s owner, Tiffany Unger, was surprised how many people dropped off and picked up coats during their first year.

Unger is asking anyone in the area that has unwanted winter coats in good condition to donate to the rack located outside of the bar. The only requirements are no stains, functioning zippers, and coats that simply feel good wearing. “Take a Coat, Donate a Coat” is open to anyone, and everyone can donate.

Single mothers, homeless people, children, college students, and adults of all ages have taken advantage of this in the past and are encouraged to do so. Jaxon King, a resident of Webster Groves, has dropped off a couple of his coats in the past.

“I love the idea of my old coats being able to benefit someone else in need,” King said. “I try to take my coats there every year.”
