On a night where the women’s basketball team celebrated its three seniors, the Lions were led by their veterans in a 62-52 win last Thursday against the University of Indianapolis.

Julia Ruzevich, Hennessey Handy, and Ellen McCorkle all suited up at home for the final time, with all three contributing to the victory. Ruzevich tallied 33 points, a new career high as a Lion, and 14 rebounds. McCorkle also scored in double figures, putting up 16 points while Handy led the team in steals with four on the evening.

After a 68-42 loss at Southern Indiana on Saturday, Lindenwood finished the regular season with a record of 11-15. Up next is the postseason for head coach Katie Falco’s squad, as the Lions will travel to Kansas City, Missouri, on Monday to take on Rockhurst University at 7 p.m. CT in the first round of the GLVC tournament.

The men’s team fell 75-72 to Indianapolis in their final home game of the season last Thursday, despite out-scoring the Greyhounds 44-35 in the second half.

Guard Jacoby Ross paced the Lions with 22 points, followed by forward Romelo Burrell who had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Kevin Caldwell Jr. was the only other Lion to score in double figures, tallying 13 points in the loss.

Lindenwood went on to lose on Saturday at Southern Indiana 77-70 in overtime, resulting in their record falling to 12-16 to close out the regular season. The men’s team will also travel for their first round matchup on Monday, taking on William Jewell College at 7 p.m. CT.
