The Lions women’s hockey team will host Penn State this Friday, February 6th, in their third annual “Pink The Rink” game.
Some Lions’ fans may not know that a few of these ladies have witnessed firsthand the effect of breast cancer. Rachel Weich, Saville Pickar and Lindsey Kirkham have not only witnessed their mothers fight, but beat breast cancer.
The puck will be dropped by Pam House, a five year breast cancer survivor who works as housekeeper in Spellman.
Not only is this event an incredible method to raise awareness of breast cancer, it is also a way for the fans to help make a change. During the game, fans can purchase commemorative t-shirts and raffle tickets. Prizes from the raffle vary several items donated from business in the St. Charles and Wentzville areas including a Valentine’s Day basket, an exam cram basket, four tickets to Million Dollar Quartet at the Fox on February 27th, a year’s supply of Papa John’s and a gift pack from Buffalo Wild Wings. Cupcakes will be on sale for $1 and the first 250 fans will get a pink pompon.
The Lindenwood Pep Band will be performing during the game and attendees will be able to join the players on the ice to skate after the game.
