The Lindenwood women’s soccer team faced Quincy University in the third game of their 2025 spring season. This match marked the return of freshman Tasneem Dizdarevic, who returned from injury and her time with the Bosnian women’s youth national team. However, the Lions were without sophomore midfielder Mattie Olsen, who is also dealing with an injury. The Lions and the Hawks are familiar opponents, having played against each other in the GLVC for several years.
The game began with the Lions applying significant pressure on the Hawks, as they controlled much of the first half. The Lions won nearly every 50-50 ball and created numerous offensive opportunities. This effort paid off when freshman Mackenzie Compton scored the first goal, followed by a second goal from freshman Madison “Maddy” Vasiloff close to halftime. The match was physical for both sides, with Lions player Sophomore Peyton Hatfield receiving a yellow card toward the end of the first half.
At the start of the second half, the Lions made a goalkeeper switch: freshman Caroline Ritter started the game, but sophomore Jordan Hollingsworth took over for the second half. The Lions continued their strong offensive play throughout the second half, maintaining possession and putting pressure on the Quincy defense. Mackenzie Compton scored her second goal of the match, bringing the Lions’ total to three goals. Further pressure led to a set-piece opportunity, a freekick for the Lions, which resulted in goal number four by Junior Rachel Jackson, who scored from outside the box into the top right corner. Which was assisted by freshman Tasneem Dizdarevic. Toward the end of the second half, the Lions made another goalkeeper switch, with Sophomore Meg Rossow making her second appearance of the spring season after both Ritter and Hollingsworth had left the game with clean sheets.
As the match progressed, Quincy began to gain some offensive momentum and managed to score, which helped the Hawks get one back in the game. The Lions secured a 4-1 victory. With this victory, the Lions improved to 3-0 in their spring season. The Lindenwood women’s soccer team will conclude its spring season with a final game against Missouri S&T on April 27 at 3 PM at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium.
