Lindenwood women’s volleyball started the season strong, winning all four games of the Lindenwood Invitational tournament at Hyland Arena.

On Friday, the Lions swept all six sets of their matches against Southern Nazarene University and Chadron State.

In the match against SNU at noon, outside hitters Bailey Dvorak and Alexa Pressley lead the team in kills, each earning eight.  Dvorak, a senior, also posted 16 kills in the evening match against Chadron State, in which she hit .382, according to the Lindenwood NCAA athletics website.

In the game against Chadron, right side hitter Kelly Wilson had eight kills and five blocks.  Over both matches, she lead the team in attack percentage with .417.

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, the Lions swept Urbana, a private university from Ohio.  With 10 kills and nine digs in the match, Dvorak narrowly missed a double-double.  Lindenwood hit .494 as a team, and in two sets, they hit over .500.

Later Saturday, the Lions faced Missouri University of Science and Technology, who also had not lost a game this season.  Lindenwood prevailed in the first two sets, winning both 25-19. The third went to the Miners 25-20, but Lindenwood came back to take the fourth set, securing their four-game streak.  Wilson tallied 11 kills and four blocks against Missouri S&T, who the Lions outblocked 12-8.

Dvorak and setter Allyson Clancy, who recorded 38 assists against Missouri S&T and 39 against Urbana, were named to the all-tournament team.

The Lions’ head coach is Will Condon, who has overseen the team since 2017, when they were 20-13, their best season in NCAA history.

Lindenwood starts another two-day competition, the Augustana Tournament in South Dakota, Friday, before going to McKendree on Sep. 7.
