Softball sweeps Lincoln in four games

Lindenwood softball won both doubleheaders against Lincoln University of Missouri over the weekend, improving their record to 24-14. 

 The Lions exploded in the fifth inning, hitting back-to-back-to-back home runs for combined five runs via the long ball.  

Hanna Porter added a home run in the third for a total of four home runs in the opening game.

Austine Pauley was 3-4 in game one with a double, a home run, three runs and a stolen base. 

Sam Dean also went 3-4, recording a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. 

Hannah Johnson was 3-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. The Lions’ 6-9 hitters combined to go 11-15 with three doubles and two home runs.  

Stormee Galka picked up her 13th win of the season with a complete game, striking out four and walking one.

Hanna Porter was 3-3 in game two, notching three RBIs. 

Austine Pauley was 2-3 with a triple, a steal and three runs scored. On the day, she had three total steals, and is now 9-9 this season.  

Sam Dean was 2-3 with her second home run of the day, three runs scored and four RBIs.  

Ceairra Perez went 2-3 with a steal. Galka set the table in game two, going 2-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored.  

Freshman Madison Corwell threw all six innings, striking out two.  

In the first game, the Lions scored six runs in the fourth inning to power to an 8-0 win.  

Galka hit leadoff, going 2-2 with a triple and a pair of runs scored. 

Dean ended the game with a home run to deep left field. She was 2-3 in the first game. 

Marina Esparza threw the complete game shutout in the circle, allowing four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.  

Taylor Bushman went 3-3 in game two, scoring a pair of runs for Lindenwood. She also stole two bases. 

Hannah Johnson was 2-3, including her second home run of the season. She also doubled in the contest.  

Galka stole another base in game two, bringing her series total to three.  

Dean was 1-3 with her fourth home run of the series. She has homered in five consecutive games. 

The Lions combined to go 9-9 on the basepaths today.  

Galka picked up the win in the game, her 14th win of the season. Last season, she set a Lindenwood NCAA record with 16 wins.  

The Lions were originally scheduled to play at McKendree on Tuesday, but that game has been cancelled. Lindenwood will return to action on April 23, when they host St. Louis College of Pharmacy for a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
