Before the coronavirus caused the university to convert to online classes for the remainder of the semester, the 2020 Lindy Awards were set to take place at 7 p.m. on April 23 in the Lindenwood Theater located in the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts.

The Lindy Awards are still set to happen, just not in the same fashion they were before. The show is cancelled, but according to Professor Andrew Millians, who is responsible for the 2020 Lindy Awards, they will continue with submissions, judging and hopefully, prize- giving.

The deadline to submit projects and works has been extended to April 3 to allow students more time to submit projects during this period of time.

Each year, Lindenwood hosts the Lindy Awards for Lindenwood’s School of Arts, Media and Communications. These awards are intended to celebrate the accomplishments of the Lindenwood Communications school and local high schools in the area.

This year, new award categories were introduced to allow for more winners and a larger variety of entries.

There are many variables and obstacles to deal with moving forward, but the goal is still “to provide students with recognition of their hard work over the past year while providing something positive to distract them, at least momentarily, from everything else going on,” Millians said.
