A Lindenwood graduate student from Florissant has recently died off campus according to an email sent to the University Friday afternoon.

Matthew Goldschmidt died at his home on Feb. 5.

Goldschmidt, who was 28 years old, was pursuing a master’s degree in counseling. He had earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Webster University.

“Matthew was a member of Psi Chi, National Honor Society of Psychology, and loved animals and art,” the email read.

Goldschmidt is survived by his parents, Cindy (York) Goldschmidt and David Goldschmidt, and twin sister, Emily Goldschmidt, according to his obituary.

His obituary said he yearned to help others who battled with drugs, addiction, and mental health problems.

His funeral service was conducted on Feb.13 at Irwin Chapel in Granite City, Ill.

The email encouraged students in need of resources and counseling support to contact the Student Counseling and Resource Center at (636) 949-4522.
