Lindenwood’s football team kicks off their 2024 season this week against the University of Kansas, playing at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City.
It’s the first time Lindenwood has played a top-ranked FBS school since moving to Division-I play. It’ll be the first of two games Lindenwood plays against ranked opponents, with their second game coming against the University of Central Arkansas, who sit in the Big Sky conference. KU is currently ranked 22nd in the FBS, with Central Arkansas being ranked 13th in the Big Sky conference.
The game against KU sees betting odds set at 58.5 points in favor of the Jayhawks, making them the heavy favorite to win the game. Betting odds are also in favor of Central Arkansas for the game the following week.
The 2024 Lions roster features a plethora of new players, including over 40 incoming freshmen new to the team. Three of those freshmen are the team’s quarterbacks, making all but two of the rostered quarterbacks incoming freshmen. Last season, the team went 3-7 over the course of the season, including a 2-3 home record and a 1-5 conference record.
Lindenwood will be hosting a watch party of the game against KU, with the event kicking off in the Evans Commons Dining Hall at 7 p.m. shortly before kickoff. The event will have events and games, giving students an opportunity to win prizes. The game can also be watched on ESPN+, with a subscription to the service needed.
As for the following week, the Lions game against Central Arkansas kicks off the home portion of the schedule, as the game is themed Welcome Back Week. Kickoff for that game is 6 p.m. on September 7th at Hunter Stadium.
In all, the Lions play six home games this season, apart of an expanded 12-game schedule, up two from their 2023 season.
