The Lindenwood Men’s Basketball team (9-11, 4-5 OVC) picked up a big victory over Southeast Missouri State (10-10, 5-4 OVC) with a 72-68 final score on Thursday night.
Points in the paint was the recipe for success for the Lions. 40 of the Lions 72 points were scored in the paint, while 20 were scored at the charity stripe. Only 12 of the points were scored behind the ark, as the team shot 4-12 from three.
Anias Futrell once again played a huge role in the win for the Lions. Putting up 20 points on 7/14 shooting, as well as 3/6 from behind the ark. Futrell also added four rebounds and four steals on the night.
Six time OVC freshman of the week Jadis Jones put up 15 points on a very efficient 5-9 shooting, as well as 5-6 from the free throw line. Jones also added six rebounds and two assists.
Markeith Browning II made his presence known with his playmaking ability and his inside game. Browning II had 10 points on 3-6 shooting while also going 4-7 from the line. Also adding eight assists on the night more than any other Lion.
The last Lion in double figures was Jordan Wildy, who returned to game action in a big way after missing the last few games with injury. Off the bench he added 17 points while shooting 6-9 and 4-4 from the line. Wildy also added five rebounds and two steals, this is the second time all season that Wildy has put up double digits, his first time since Nov. 14th.
Reggie Bass added six points while Lions big man Aly Tounkara added four points and seven rebounds.
Lindenwood was very efficient as a team shooting 52.2% (24-46) from the field and 57.1% (20-35) from the free throw line.
With the win it snaps a short two game losing streak. The Lions now sit at 4-5 in OVC play and 9-11 overall. The 4-5 conference record is tied for seventh in the OVC. Home court plays a big role for them as they are 4-1 in conference play at home, but 0-4 on the road.
The Lions will look to carry the momentum from this win at home as they continue their four game homestand Saturday against Little Rock at 3:30 p.m. at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, or live on ESPN+
