MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – Lindenwood men’s NCAA hockey team continued its winning streak by defeating Robert Morris on Friday night by 6-2 followed by a gritty 5-3 comeback win on Saturday at Centene Community Ice Center. The weekend sweep extended the Lions’ win streak to four games, moving the Lions to 7-5-0 on the season.
Friday: Seed Shines with Five Points in 6–2 Win
Defenseman Nolan Seed delivered one of the best individual performances in program history on Friday night, recording five points (2 goals, 3 assists) to lead Lindenwood to a 6–2 victory over the Colonials.
Seed set the tone immediately, scoring from the high slot just 27 seconds into the game. The Lions doubled their lead minutes later when Giovanni Morneau set up freshman Connor Gengle. Lindenwood made it 3–0 before the first intermission as Drew Kuzma finished a net-front effort assisted by Tyler Loughman and Seed.
Robert Morris broke through early in the second, but the Lions answered quickly when Olivier Houde buried a feed from Seed to restore the three-goal cushion. After an RMU power-play goal trimmed the lead to 4–2, Seed delivered the highlight of the night: a power-play blast from just inside the blue line with less than a second remaining in the period.
Gengle added his second of the night midway through the third, with Morneau and Seed both picking up assists as Seed secured Lindenwood’s first five-point outing by a skater since January 2024.
The Lions outshot RMU 50–24, with Liam Beerman stopping 22 shots to improve to 4–1 in net. Lindenwood also went 2-for-3 on the power play.
Saturday: Lions Rally from Down 2–0 to Complete the Sweep
The Colonials came out strong in Saturday’s rematch, jumping ahead 2–0 by the halfway point of the first period. But the Lions answered with five of the next six goals, securing a 5–3 comeback win and the weekend sweep.
Just over two minutes after falling behind 2–0, Lindenwood found its spark as Ethan Zielke finished a setup from Jake Southgate and Ethan Elias to cut the deficit in half. The momentum carried forward minutes later when Jacob Fletcher tied the game 2–2 on a feed from Charles Savoie and Houde.
The Lions kept rolling into the second period. At 5:04, Michael Bevilacqua scored in transition to give Lindenwood its first lead of the night, with assists from Morneau and goaltender Klayton Knapp—who helped start the breakout with a quick play off the glass.
Lindenwood couldn’t capitalize on a lengthy 5-on-3 later in the period, and Southgate was denied on a penalty shot, keeping the score tight entering the third.
RMU tied the game early on a power play, but Lindenwood responded decisively. With a delayed penalty upcoming, the Lions pulled the goalie, and Louis-Philippe Fontaine scored the go-ahead goal off a setup from Elias and Morneau. Less than four minutes later, Anselmo Rego buried a feed from Brody Mortensen and Morneau—giving Morneau his fourth assist of the game—and extending the lead to 5–3.
The Colonials pulled their goalie for the final five and a half minutes but were unable to break through a composed Lindenwood defense.
Saturday’s win marked the Lions’ fourth comeback victory of the season and their third after trailing by two goals.
