Halfway through the season, and we finally have the announcement of the championship game for the UFL. In previous years, it was just known as the UFL Championship and was hosted in St. Louis. Unfortunately, the Battlehawks weren’t able to make it to the big dance in their own house, but now there could be some hope as we are going to see a new venue this year.
First thing in the morning on April 24th, Co-Owner Mike Repole and UFL President and CEO Russ Brandon announced the inaugural “United Bowl,” which will take place on June 13th at 3 P.M. ET, with tickets going on sale on May 1st to the public and also airing on the ABC network. This is the first time we are seeing the championship game get a name change to fit the atmosphere of the league. Alongside the name and venue change, though, we are getting a brand-new trophy for the victor to hoist. Now, the official trophy has not been revealed just yet, but in the new logo, it shows a mock-up, and if that is to be believed, the new trophy could be very similar to the old USFL design before the UFL merger.
Mike Repole would say in the press release, “Washington D.C. is built for big moments, and the 2026 United Bowl will be exactly that.” Russ Brandon would follow up with “As we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States, there is no better stage than our nation’s capital to highlight the energy, spirit, and teamwork of America’s true passion – the game of football.” We are still in week five, so we will have to wait to see who gets the honor to play for the new prize, but we are eagerly awaiting them in the reigning champs’ domain.
