The police department received information from a female shopper on Jan. 8 who said she noticed a shopping bag on the floor outside her dressing room while she was trying on clothes. The bag was gone when she left the dressing room, but re-appeared when she returned. She noticed a small hole in the bag once she became suspicious.

Roberts had placed a phone inside the shopping bag and used to it to take images of nude or partially dressed female victims, police said. This occurred on dressing rooms that are on the sales floor.

“We asked women who were at the mall between Dec. 26 and Jan. 8 to call and speak to us so we could see if they were a victim,” said Officer Melissa Doss of the St. Peters Police Department.

At about the same time Roberts was arrested in Lincoln County on a different case. He was charged with promoting child pornography to a minor there. He is being held on $100,000 cash only bail at the Lincoln County Jail.

Anyone who thinks they might be a victim of Roberts should contact St. Peters Detective Matt Halter at 636-278-2244 ext. 3546 or if they have more information about the case, call the Crime Solvers Hotline at 636-278-1000.
