The organization provides meals to hungry children in 60 different countries, including the U.S. Lindenwood Student Estevenson Coleman grew up in an orphanage in Haiti felt this impact first hand when eating some of these meals.

“I remember getting excited when this food was delivered,” Coleman said. “It used to be just food to me, but now I get to see how people give their time and effort.”

Last year alone, Kids Against Hunger provided 40 million meals throughout the world to children and their families. On October 14 and 15 Lindenwood students, faculty and friends are invited to help package meals with a goal of providing 250,000 meals. The packaging will be noon to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 15 inside of Evans Commons.

Each of the meals packaged contains six servings and volunteers will have food available to them as well.

Associate Professor of Nonprofit Administration, Julie Turner, feels the project will not only be a great cause, but also a wonderful educational experience.

“The more hands-on, community-related experience we can get for non-profit administration majors, the better it is for them,” Turner said.

Anybody who is interested in volunteering can go to this website and sign-up for a time-slot that works for them.
