With Halloween coming up next week, the time for tricks and treats is upon us. Here are five spooky things to do this week around St. Charles to get into the holiday spirit.

1. Face your fears at Lindenwood’s annual Dark Carnival.
Wednesday, Oct. 25
7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Lindenwood University Historic Campus

Partake in the Halloween festivities at Lindenwood University’s seventh annual Dark Carnival. Brace yourself for the terrors that lie behind the doors of not one, but two haunted houses offered this year. Cobbs and Irwin halls are holding their own haunted houses this year, giving thrill seekers two chances to get spooked. There will also be carnival games, raffles and much more. Read more about the carnival here

The Lindenwood Film Series will be showing “The Cabin in the Woods,” a tongue-in-cheek horror flick. Click here for more information on the film.

3. Hear ghoulish tales at CAB’s Friday Night Live event.
Friday, Oct. 27
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Spellmann AB Leadership Room

Food, crafts, tarot-card reading and ghost stories are just some of the activities that will be offered at Friday night’s “Something Spooky” event. The event is hosted by Campus Activities Board. More information on the event can be found here

4. Get spooked on Main Street during “Legends & Lanterns.”
Friday, Oct. 27, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 28, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 29, noon to 5 p.m.

“Legends & Lanterns” is a free event that is open to all ages. There will be hayrides and ghostly characters to interact with haunted history on Historic Main Street.

5. Buy a pumpkin to carve at a local pumpkin patch.

Need to find a pumpkin patch before Halloween comes around? Below is a list of local pumpkin patches to get your jack-o’-lantern fix at.
