Students from various residence halls came together to discuss laundry facilities, building renovations and leadership opportunities at Wednesday’s Residence Hall Association meeting.

Lindenwood President Michael Shonrock addressed those in attendance at the start of the meeting and said he was committed to updating the laundry facilities, including speaking to the washer and dryer company personally to get units fixed.

  • Facilities for men’s and women’s housing.
  • Dorms getting units installed if they did not have them before.
  • New payment options.

In addition to laundry facilities, residence hall representatives asked about building renovations on campus. Shonrock said that Niccolls Hall is the first in line for dorms to be updated. The hall closed this semester and is undergoing a $2.5 million renovation which will include washers and dryers. Shonrock added that Butler Library will have internal restorations that would total at $7 million dollars.

Shonrock told students in attendance that the library would not lose its “Harry Potter” aesthetic.

“Harry Potter will not go away,” Shonrock said.

In other discussions, Rachel Toliver from Lindenwood’s leadership organization talked about a new certification that is available to students. Elevate Lindenwood Leadership Certification is a multi-level process where students can achieve different titles based on their involvement on campus and their reflections. Details about the certification can be found on Involve U under Campus Links.
