Funeral arrangements have been set for Madison Scott, the student who was found dead in her dorm room Monday night.

Scott’s funeral arrangements are being handled by Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison St., Jefferson City. Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, with a prayer service conducted at 12:30 p.m. in the Freeman Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass and interment the following day.

The St. Charles County coroner could not be reached for comment Wednesday; as of Tuesday, the manner of Scott’s death had not been determined.

Scott, 19, of Jefferson City was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and the Honors College, and she was double majoring in Spanish and advertising and strategic communications.

Shane Williamson, dean of students, sent out an email about the incident Tuesday morning. It stated that an on-campus memorial service is being planned for next week.

“Lindenwood University is making counselors available to anyone in the campus community who would like to speak to someone about this and encourages them to do so,” Williamson wrote in the email.

The Student Counseling and Resource Center can be reached at 636-949-4522 or [email protected]

Scott’s sorority sisters declined to comment Tuesday. Emily Stricker, chapter president of Sigma Sigma Sigma, issued the following request in an email to a Lindenlink reporter: “Please refrain from contacting our chapter members as they are unable to give you any correspondence. I just wanted to reiterate the importance of this as our chapter deals with this tough time.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are being requested to Coalition for Life – St. Louis or the Helias Foundation.
